Grabince buys empty Florida Boulevard property Grabince buys empty Florida Boulevard property Old Cedars Home store closed in ’05 BY TIMOTHY BOONE| email@example.com Nov. 02, 2013 Comments The old Cedars Home Furnishings store on Florida Boulevard has been sold and will soon become a Grabince home improvement center. The 35,750-square-foot building at 12730 Florida, between Little John Drive and Flannery Road, was purchased by Grabince for $805,000 in a deal that was filed Thursday, according to documents with the East Baton Rouge Parish Clerk of Court’s Office. Bunky Hughes, who was the listing broker for the property, was the general manager for Cedars when the business closed in April 2005. “It gave me closure to sell this property,” Hughes said. The FBI leased the space for a temporary office after Hurricane Katrina, but the building had largely been empty for the past eight years. Grabince, which has a location on South Range Avenue in Denham Springs and Airline Highway in Baton Rouge, will spend the next 60 to 90 days renovating the property. The plan is for the business to relocate its Denham Springs store and move into the new location in early 2014, Hughes said. Grabince is a 7-year-old business that sells and installs granite counters, cabinets, flooring and decorative iron fencing. Over the past year, the company has grown from 11 to 35 employees.
