Woman, 30, asked officers for help
MORGAN CITY — Police said they made an easy bust this week after a woman who admitted to smoking marijuana asked officers for help to unlock her car, which was parked in a drug-free zone near Morgan City High School.
Police spokesman James Blair said Nikki M. Dupree, 30, walked up to officers working an event at the high school and said she needed assistance because she had locked her keys inside her vehicle.
“Upon walking up to the vehicle, officers detected an odor of what appeared to be marijuana emitting from inside of the vehicle,” Blair said.
Blair said Dupree admitted she had smoked marijuana on her way to the school event. He said Dupree also showed officers where more marijuana was located inside the car.
Dupree, of Laurel Street in Morgan City, was arrested on one count each of possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a drug-free zone.
Dupree remained in the Morgan City jail on Friday, and her bail had not yet been set, Blair said.
