The sixth annual Boudin Cook-Off is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19 at Parc Sans Souci in downtown Lafayette.
Festivities include live music, food, children’s activities and a boudin-eating contest.
The boudin cooking competition will showcase traditional boudin and include an “unlinked” category, which in the past has seen such creations as boudin pie, boudin egg rolls and boudin burgers.
Twenty cooking teams are set to compete this year.
Proceeds benefit the Historic Preservation Alliance of Lafayette.

Tickets are on sale for Rootstock, a music festival to benefit the nonprofit cultural group Louisiana Folk Roots.
The festival is scheduled from noon to 9 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9 at the Beaver Park baseball fields on Fisher Road in Lafayette.
Advance tickets are $15. Admission is $20 the day of the event. Children 12 and under get in for free.

Vermilion River paddle trip
Lafayette’s Acadiana Park Nature Station is planning a Sunday paddle trip from the Nature Station on East Alexander Street to the Vermilionville Living History Museum and Folklife Park.
Participants should bring their own kayak or canoe to the Nature Station at 7 a.m. to unload and then drive to and park at Vermilionville, where a shuttle will bring paddlers back to the Nature Station.
The 91/2 -mile trip will take about 5 hours.

Jeanerette museum day
The Jeanerette Bicentennial Park and Museum will host a “Museum Day Live!” event from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19.

Museum of Fear
The Lafayette Science Museum’s “Museum of Fear” haunted house will be open on select days from Friday, Oct. 11 through Halloween.

The museum also will host a “ZombieWalk” on Saturday, Oct. 26, a chance for participants to dress in gruesome gear and shuffle along downtown streets.

AOC Community Media is offering digital media workshops this month on cinematography and the use of the digital editing software Final Cut Pro.
