In commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the John F. Kennedy administration, the West Baton Rouge Museum announces the opening of the exhibition “Capturing Camelot: The Kennedy Years” starting Saturday and running through Dec. 29.
The exhibit includes more than 50 photos by photojournalist Stanley Tretick, who is best known for the photos he took of the former president relaxing with his children.
At 10:30 a.m. Saturday, museum curator Lauren Davis will lead a tour of the exhibit. Refreshments will be served.
Saturday also is National Museum Day. Visitors can go to the Smithsonian Institution’s link — www.smithsonian.com/museumdaylive — to print out a free pass to visit the West Baton Rouge Museum on Museum Day.

Suicide prevention 5K
We Are the Difference is hosting a Levee Trot and Scavenger Hunt at 4 p.m. Saturday at Bayou Plaquemine Waterfront Park to raise money for the nonprofit organization Stop Solider Suicide.
The event includes a 1-mile Fun Run/Walk and a 5K Run.
There will be jambalaya, drinks and a bounce house for children.

The West Baton Rouge Historical Association will once again sponsor the Sweets Booth for the annual Sugarfest on Oct. 6.
The Sweets Booth will be open from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. under the tent near the Arbroth Store on the West Baton Rouge Museum grounds.
A Sweets Contest will be held in the morning for the best cake, candy, cookies or cupcakes. Contest forms are available at the museum or may be picked up at the Sweets Booth on Oct. 6.
A full cake, at least two dozens cookies, two dozen candy samples or two dozen cupcakes must be submitted.

Spare Time Riders will host its annual trail ride at 9 a.m. Saturday at the New Roads Multi-Use Center.

New Roads will host the Big Cajun Olympic Triathlon at 7:30 a.m. Sunday.
The triathlon will feature a 1,500-meter swim, 24.9-mile bike ride and 6.2-mile run.
The race will kick off at the Morrison Parkway Boat Ramp.
