Former state social services chief Ann S. Williamson has accepted a cabinet level position with Utah Gov. Gary Herbert.
Williamson will be executive director of the Utah Department of Human Services.
She has been president and chief executive officer of the Louisiana Association of Nonprofit Organizations for the past four years.
Williamson previously served in top-level social services positions in the administrations of three Louisiana governors: Mike Foster, Kathleen Blanco and Bobby Jindal.
Her last job was secretary of the Department of Social Services, now the Department of Children and Family Services.
Williamson described leading Utah’s Department of Human Services as an opportunity to apply the skills and experience she’s gained at LANO and in similar public service roles with the state of Louisiana.
“It is the kind of work, with the resources and scope, that best suits my abilities. I believe this is the right move for my family and me,” she wrote.
LANO’s board has named Vice President Matt Mullenix to serve as Interim CEO after Williamson’s departure and will turn its immediate attention to identifying the organization’s next permanent leader.
Williamson will assist in the transition and continue her service as CEO through Oct. 20.
