LAFAYETTE — A fugitive wanted in Georgia on suspicion of committing sex crimes against children was arrested this week in Jennings, officials said.
Elton Freeman, 21, of 1938 Joe Louis St. in Jennings, was captured Wednesday by the Louisiana Attorney General’s Office’s Fugitive Apprehension Unit, according to a news release.
Freeman is wanted by the Fulton County Police Department in Georgia on counts of molestation of a juvenile, aggravated sodomy, cruelty to children and sexual battery of a minor.
He also was wanted for failing to appear in court on sex crime charges separate from the current accusation, the release stated.
The Jennings Police Department and the Attorney General’s High Technology Crime Unit assisted in located and arresting Freeman, who has been booked into the Jefferson Davis Parish Jail and is awaiting extradition to Georgia.
