GONZALES — City police are looking for the driver of a black passenger car with gray racing stripes on the hood that hit two women on La. 30 and fled the scene early Monday, police said.
The women were in the continuous turning lane of La. 30 near the Best Western Inn in Ascension Parish when the eastbound car hit them as it made a left turn into the motel, Detective Sgt. Steven Nethken said Monday.
The incident happened about 3 a.m. Monday just east of the Interstate 10-La. 30 interchange, Nethken said.
The women had moderate injuries that are not life-threatening and were taken to an area hospital, he said.
The driver is wanted on hit-and-run and other counts, Nethken said. The car is believed to have damage to the front, right quarter-panel and the windshield.
He said the women were in the middle of the highway for unknown reasons and may have been intoxicated.
He said the car, which police are still trying to identify, circled around in the motel parking lot at 1918 La. 30, Gonzales, and headed back down La. 30 eastbound.
