The Thibodaux chain submitted plans with the city-parish Planning and Zoning Office for a 55,545-square-foot store on Airline Highway, between Baringer Foreman Road and Highland Road. T he store will be one of the retail anchors of the Long Farm Village development. Donny Rouse, managing partner of Rouses, said the grocery store is still waiting on Antioch Road to be extended from Jefferson Highway to Airline Highway before finalizing its plans for the Long Farm location. Rouses has been building stores in its new upscale format in cities throughout the Louisiana and Mississippi Gulf Coast in recent years, although Baton Rouge remained without one. Rouse has said the independent grocer wants to ultimately have three stores in the Baton Rouge area. Rouses has nearly 40 stores in Louisiana and Mississippi, including 10 in metro New Orleans and two in the Lafayette area. Plans for the Rouses store are set to go before the Planning and Zoning Commission on Oct. 21.
