LAFAYETTE — The 15th Judicial District Attorney’s Office is leaving the Lafayette Parish courthouse for up to two years in a move set to take place from Friday to Sept. 8, city-parish officials announced this week.
The office’s temporary home will open Sept. 9 on the fifth floor of the nearby Whitney Bank Building at 911 Lee Ave.
The move is needed to make way for renovations and repairs that are scheduled to be done over the next two years on the sixth and seventh floors of the nearly 50-year-old courthouse.
City-parish officials also announced this week that the two courthouse elevators that have been down for repairs this summer are expected to be running again sometime next month.
The 15th Judicial District covers Lafayette, Acadia and Vermilion parishes.
