Kenish Smith, 22, of Springfield, was booked into the Tangipahoa Parish Jail on Friday on a count of second-degree aggravated battery, Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Dawn Panepinto said in a news release. Travon Pitts, 25, of Hammond, was arrested Aug. 5 and is the accused triggerman in the case. Pitts was arrested in Livingston Parish by sheriff’s deputies on counts unrelated to the shooting. He will be booked at a later date into the Tangipahoa Parish Jail on one count of second-degree battery. Smith is accused of driving Pitts to the Happywoods Roads apartment complex where the shooting happened, Panepinto said. The victim, Dejaun Anderson, 20, and his sister were standing outside his apartment when a maroon 2001 Oldsmobile pulled up beside them, Panepinto said. Pitts, who was in the passenger seat of the Oldsmobile, made comments to Anderson’s sister, Panepinto said. Anderson replied, and Pitts responded by shooting Anderson once in the thigh, Panepinto said. Anderson is in good condition, Panepinto said.
