Seventh suspect arrested in Ascension drug sting Seventh suspect arrested in Ascension drug sting Henry Knockum River Parishes bureau Aug. 29, 2013 Comments DONALDSONVILLE — Ascension Parish sheriff’s deputies arrested a seventh accused street-level drug dealer as part of an undercover sting that has netted six others. Henry Knockum, 41, 702 Fifth St., Donaldsonville, was booked Monday into Ascension Parish Prison on a count of distribution of heroin, deputies said in a news release Tuesday. Knockum remained in custody and awaiting bail as of Tuesday morning, deputies said. Undercover sheriff’s narcotics agents made buys of heroin, cocaine, morphine, hydrocodone and synthetic marijuana on July 31 and Aug. 1 in an investigation that led to warrants for Knockum and four others, who were arrested Aug. 9 and Aug. 10, deputies have said. Sheriff Jeff Wiley told the Donaldsonville City Council in late July that his office had begun an offensive against street crime after noticing an uptick in such crimes. He also warned about rival street gangs in Gonzales, Donaldsonville and nearby White Castle in Iberville Parish. The undercover buys followed the arrest of a Pierre Part woman earlier in July after she made an alleged drug purchase in a parking lot in Donaldsonville, deputies have said. Investigation into that drug transaction also led to the arrest of another alleged dealer, deputies have said.
