Aug 28, 2013 09:13 Boil water advisory issued for parts of French Settlement Boil water advisory issued for parts of French Settlement Advocate staff report Aug. 28, 2013 Comments A boil advisory will be in effect for more than 100 homes on La. 444 in French Settlement until at least 5 p.m. Wednesday, the president of the French Settlement Water Co. Inc., said Monday. Water company President Billy Edrington said the state mandates that an advisory be issued if the water pressure falls below a certain level, which is what happened Monday afternoon. He said crews performed an emergency water-line repair after a crack in the water main was detected. “Anytime there is a drop in pressure, there is potential for contamination,” Edrington said. The advisory is precautionary and refers only to water for consumption, he said. Water should be brought to a rolling boil for one minute to ensure safe consumption” he said. Edrington said a bacteriological sample will be taken Tuesday and the advisory will either be rescinded at 5 p.m. Wedneday or another advisory will be issued.
