Second victim of Livingston Parish head-on crash dies Second victim of Livingston Parish head-on crash dies Advocate staff report July 31, 2013 Comments A second victim of a Saturday night two-vehicle head-on crash in Livingston Parish died Sunday night. Bryan Payne, 22, of Denham Springs, died from his injuries at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge, Troop A spokesman Trooper Jared Sandifer said. Payne was the driver of one of the vehicles involved in the fatal crash, which occurred just before 9 p.m. Saturday on La. 64, also known as Magnolia Beach Road, west of La. 1028. The crash also resulted in the death of 20-year-old Livingston resident Mickel L. Tetreault, Sandifer said. The initial investigation by State Police revealed the crash occurred as 28-year-old Baton Rouge resident Samuel Doherty III was driving a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado west on La. 64. At the same time, Payne was driving a 1997 Ford pickup east on La. 64. For unknown reasons, Doherty’s Silverado crossed over the center line into the eastbound lane and struck Payne’s vehicle head-on. Tetreault, a front-seat passenger in Payne’s vehicle, was not wearing a seat belt and suffered fatal injuries, Sandifer said. Payne, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered serious injuries and was transported to OLOL, where he later died. Doherty was wearing a seat belt; however, impairment on his part is suspected, Sandifer said. Routine toxicology samples were obtained from both drivers and will be sent to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis.
