Police: Man fatally shot in the 7th Ward

An unidentified man was fatally shot in the 2200 block of St. Bernard Avenue early Sunday morning, according to NOPD spokesman Frank Robertson.

The victim was found at about 3:45 a.m. on the front steps of a residence. He had been shot multiple times in the body and was transported to the hospital where he later died, Robertson said.

The victim’s identity is being withheld pending the notification of family members, according to John Gagliano, chief investigator for the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office.

Homicide Detective Melanie Dillon is in charge of the investigation.

St. Roch shooting victim, 38, identified

A man fatally shot in the St. Roch area on Saturday afternoon was identified as 38-year-old Samuel Kelly, according to John Gagliano, chief investigator with the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office.

The shooting happened in the 1600 block of Mandeville Street slightly before 5 p.m.

Kelly suffered numerous gunshots wounds and died on the scene, according to NOPD spokesman Frank Robertson.
