Girl, 5, dies in crash on Robley Drive Girl, 5, dies in crash on Robley Drive Advocate staff report July 28, 2013 Comments A 5-year-old girl died and two other people — including a 1-year-old boy — were critically injured in a two-vehicle crash on Robley Drive in Lafayette just before 5 p.m. Sunday. A 19-year-old woman was driving a Chevrolet Equinox west on Robley Drive near its intersection with Longfellow Drive when, for unknown reasons, she lost control of the SUV and spun into oncoming traffic, said Capt. Kip Judice, a Lafayatte Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesman. A pickup headed east that was driven by a 53-year-old woman then struck the Equinox, Judice said. The 19-year-old woman and her 1-year-old son were taken to a hospital in critical condition, Judice said. The driver of the pickup was also taken to a hospital after suffering moderate injuries in the wreck, Judice said. The 5-year-old girl, a passenger in the Equinox, was pronounced dead at the scene. The girl was not the child of the 19-year-old woman, but authorities were not sure whether they were related in another way. The identities of the victims are being withheld until deputies complete next-of-kin notifications. Deputies have not issued any citations, and toxicology reports will be conducted to determine if alcohol or any other drugs played a role in the crash.
