Pedestrian hit and killed; impairment suspected Pedestrian hit and killed; impairment suspected Advocate staff report| July 15, 2013 Comments A pedestrian suspected of being impaired was hit and killed early Sunday when he stepped onto a roadway to flag traffic, State Police said. Britt L. Efferson, 24, Central, was killed when a pickup driven by Michael Parker, 25, Zachary, struck him on La. 67, north of Port Hudson-Pride Road in East Baton Rouge Parish, Trooper First Class Jared Sandifer said. Efferson was walking north on La. 67 just after midnight. When he stepped into the northbound lane to flag traffic, Parker, driving a 2003 GMC pickup in the same lane, could not avoid him, Sandifer said. State Police suspect Efferson had used alcohol or drugs, and have submitted a toxicology sample to the State Police Crime Lab for testing, Sandifer said. Parker is not suspected of impairment and was not arrested.
