Train-truck crash kills Grosse Tete man Train-truck crash kills Grosse Tete man | Advocate staff report Aug. 22, 2011 Comments An oncoming train killed a 60-year-old man on Saturday night in Grosse Tete while he sat in his pickup on train tracks at Cedar Street, Iberville Parish Sheriff’s Maj. Johnny Blanchard said Sunday. Howard Lee Breeden, of Willow Street, sat in his truck on the tracks at 11 p.m. Saturday, Blanchard said. The train blared its horn to get Breeden to move, but he never did, Blanchard said. The train also tried to stop in time but could not do so, Blanchard said. The train struck the driver’s side of the truck and killed Breeden on impact, Blanchard said. Deputies are unsure if Breeden was unconscious or intoxicated at the time, Blanchard said. Blood tests are pending, Blanchard said.
