Deputies look into possible murder-suicide in Hammond Deputies look into possible murder-suicide in Hammond Florida Parishes bureau June 04, 2013 Comments HAMMOND — The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office confirmed the identities of a man and woman found dead Monday in an apparent murder-suicide at their home where deputies also found an unattended 5-month-old child. Brandon Colona, 26, is believed to have shot and killed his girlfriend, 21-year-old Theresa Doby, with a .40-caliber handgun before turning the weapon on himself, Chief Deputy Dennis Pevey said Monday. Sheriff’s deputies had been called at 11:45 a.m. to 47359 Brittani Court, where nothing appeared out of place but no one answered the door and a baby could be heard inside, Pevey said. Deputies entered the house through an unlocked side door and found the child unattended in a seat in a front room, Pevey said. Deputies called out several times announcing their presence, Pevey said, but no one answered. Searching the home, deputies found Colona and Doby in a rear bedroom in what appeared to have been a murder-suicide by gunshot, Pevey said. The child is safe and in good health with remaining family members, Pevey said. A motive for the shooting remains unclear, Pevey said.
