Ryan broussard| Advocate staff writer May 13, 2013 Comments Baton Rouge police were investigating on Sunday the shooting death of a 31-year-old woman at 2343 Iowa St. A family member found the woman at her house at about 3:30 p.m. Sunday and called police, Cpl. L’Jean McKneely, a spokesman for the police department, said. She was already dead when police arrived, McKneely said. Police have been called to that address numerous times in the past to respond to domestic disputes, McKneely said. The house is located across the street from the BREC-owned Magnolia Mound Plantation and next to the unfinished University Edge apartment complex. Former Baton Rouge city councilman and state Rep. Joe Delpit, who lives on Iowa Street, next door to the house where the woman’s body was found, said he did not know anyone lived there. Delpit said a for sale sign in front of the house has been there at least two to three weeks. He said the neighborhood is normally very quiet and has not had any problems with crime since some house break-ins a few years ago. Anyone with information on the incident is urged to contact the Violent Crimes Unit at (225) 389-4869 or Crime Stoppers at (225) 344-7867.
