Baton Rouge teen killed in I-10 wreck near Sorrento

A 16-year-old Baton Rouge boy was killed Saturday afternoon in a single-vehicle accident on Interstate 10 west of La. 22 in Ascension Parish, State Police reported.

The 2006 Cadillac CTS sedan involved in the crash had four occupants, including a 16-year-old driving without a license, when it ran off I-10 about noon and struck several trees in the median, Trooper 1st Class Jared Sandifer said in a news release.

Gary Clark Jr., a rear seat passenger in the vehicle, was not wearing a seat belt and sustained fatal injuries from the crash, Sandifer said. The driver and other two passengers were wearing seat belts and sustained minor injuries in the crash.

Toxicology samples were taken because it was a fatal accident per State Police procedures, Sandifer said.

The wreck remains under investigation, and Sandifer declined to provide additional details about the incident because the driver is a minor.
