KROTZ SPRINGS — No injuries were reported in a minor fire Thursday morning at the Alon Refinery in Krotz Springs, according to the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Emergency officials responded to the refinery at 8:15 a.m. and had the fire under control by 8:25 a.m., Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Megan Vizena said.
Vizena said no evacuations were ordered in the area around the plant, which sits along the Atchafalaya River.
The refinery produces 83,000 barrels a day of gasoline, diesel and petro-chemicals, according to the company web site.
Alon spokesman Blake Lewis said the cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
