Albany — One man is dead and another was recovering from gunshot wounds after a man opened fire on them at 2:40 p.m. Friday on Ed Brown Road near the Tangipahoa Parish line, a Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman said.
Earl Johnson Jr., 24, 10153 Illinois Jones Road, Hammond, is wanted on one count of second-degree murder and one count of attempted second-degree murder after detectives accused him of killing Darryl Patrick, 46, 46016 Durbin Road, Hammond, and wounding a 44-year-old man, sheriff’s spokeswoman Lori Steele said in a news release.
Johnson, who remained a fugitive Friday night, allegedly shot both victims multiple times.
The unidentified victim remained in a hospital under treatment for his injuries, Steele said.
Patrick was alive when deputies arrived, but died at a hospital, Steele said.
Sheriff’s deputies were still trying late Friday to determine a motive for the shootings, Steele said.
No further details were available from the Sheriff’s Office as of Friday night.
