The two Baton Rouge Police officers stabbed at 129 N. 24th St. Monday are 42-year-old Cpl. Donald Johnson and 29-year-old Officer Brian Strong, according to a police department news release.

The two officers were stabbed Monday after intervening in a dispute between two people, police have said.

Officers fatally shot Bradford Louis Etheredge, 37, 129 N. 24th St., one of the men involved in the dispute, after he attacked the officers with a knife, police have said.

The other man involved in the dispute, who was not identified, was taken into custody for questioning, police said.

Johnson is a 10-year veteran and Strong is a three-year veteran with the Police Department.

Both officers suffered non-life-threatening injuries and have been placed on paid administrative leave per standard departmental protocol, according to the release.

The incident is still under investigation.
