3 Gonzales residents booked in heroin sting

GONZALES — Sheriff’s deputies arrested three Gonzales residents following a two-week investigation of a man suspected of selling heroin in Ascension Parish.

In mid-March, deputies assigned to the narcotics division opened an investigation into 37-year-old Bob Stafford, according to a Sheriff’s Office news release.

Detectives witnessed Stafford and Brittany Leshay Medine allegedly conducting a drug deal in the parking lot of a Gonzales business on Monday.

Stafford and Medine were arrested and both were found with heroin, cocaine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia, according to the release.

Detectives also seized a large amount of cash from drug deals reportedly conducted by Stafford.

Detectives also booked 43-year-old Wiley Mahurin Jr. after he was accused of buying heroin from Stafford.

All three residents were booked into the Ascension Parish Jail.

Stafford, 41302 Cannon Road, was booked with possession with intent to distribute heroin, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, distribution of heroin and possession with intent to distribute cocaine. Stafford’s bail has been set at $155,342.

Medine, 29, 41302 Cannon Road, was booked with possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of cocaine, principal/possession with intent to distribute heroin, principal/distribution of heroin, principal/possession with intent to distribute cocaine and failure to appear in court. Her bail has been set at $160,342.

Mahurin, 42494 La. 621, was booked with possession of heroin and two counts of contempt of court. Mahurin’s bail has been set at $25,000.

It was the second heroin arrest in the parish in the past three weeks.

Miranda Argrave, 33, 13096 Cypress Gold Ave., St. Amant, was booked March 11 with drug possession after detectives seized heroin, illegal prescription pills and drug paraphernalia from her home, according to a news release.
