Heflin mayor faces recall vote in April Heflin mayor faces recall vote in April the Associated Press April 01, 2013 Comments HEFLIN — Heflin Mayor Judy Tillman faces possible recall in the April 6 election. Webster Parish Clerk of Court Holli Vining said this is the second time voters have attempted to remove Tillman from office. The first petition had 69 signatures of 165 registered Heflin voters — three more than the 40 percent required. But District Judge John Robinson struck six names from the petition and the recall election was nullified. The second recall petition has 78 signatures — 62 were required. Parish Registrar of Voters Melanie Smith said voters in Heflin and Sarepta are the only ones involved in the upcoming election. Heflin voters will decide Tillman’s recall, while Sarepta voters must decide five propositions involving the sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages.
