Baker police Wednesday arrested a 21-year-old Zachary man accused of being the getaway driver to an armed robbery Tuesday night at duplexes on Kimberlin Drive in Baker.
The victim told police a man he knew as “Jeremy” approached him in a tan or brown Chevrolet Impala when another man stepped out of the car, demanded the victim’s “money and personal effects” and pulled a handgun when the victim refused, according to an affidavit of probable cause.
The victim said the man stole $280 in cash, a debit card, his driver’s license, Social Security card and an HTC-1X cellphone, the affidavit says.
Authorities learned that “Jeremy” is Jeremy Davon Drake and arrested him at his residence in Zachary, the affidavit says.
At the Baker Police Department, Drake admitted he and the gunman, identified only as Cory, were looking to smoke marijuana when Drake told Cory he lost money gambling and Cory robbed the victim to get some money, the affidavit says.
Drake said he dropped Cory off in the North Sherwood Forest Drive area near Choctaw Drive in Baton Rouge after the robbery, but he could not provide police with an exact location, the affidavit says.
Police booked Drake, 4047 Lake Court, into Parish Prison on Wednesday on one count of armed robbery, according to an affidavit of probable cause.
