LSU women's basketball team gets No. 6 seed in NCAA tournament
The LSU Lady Tigers will host Green Bay in an NCAA women’s tournament first-round game at 6:30 p.m. Sunday in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.
The Lady Tigers (20-11) earned a No. 6 seed in the Spokane Regional. Green Bay is the No. 11 seed. The game will be shown on ESPN2.
The winner of that game will play at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday against the winner of Sunday’s other first round game at the PMAC between No. 3 Penn State and No. 14 Cal Poly. Those teams will meet at 4 p.m.
This will be the 22nd NCAA appearance for the Lady Tigers, who surged to an at-large bid by winning seven of their last eight games.
LSU has won 14 straight NCAA first-round games since 1997. The Lady Tigers will be trying to advance past the second round for the first time since 2008.
Penn State beat LSU in the second round last year at the PMAC, 90-80.
The Spokane Regional will be March 30 and April 1. The Women’s Final Four is April 7 and 9 at New Orleans Arena.
