Police arrest 2 in
December robbery
Baton Rouge police arrested two men Monday accused in a Christmas Eve armed robbery on Newcastle Avenue, according to arrest warrants.
Roderrick Dawon Jones, 18, 12345 N. I-10 Service Road, New Orleans; and Tyrone Tolliver, 20, 4134 MacArthur Blvd., New Orleans; were booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on one count each of armed robbery.
The victim arrived at her 12074 Newcastle Ave. apartment around 12:24 a.m. on Dec. 24 when Jones approached her while armed with a handgun, the warrants say.
Jones ordered the victim to lie on the ground and surrender her keys, the warrants say.
Jones took the victim’s keys and drove off in her car, following another car that had earlier transported Jones to the scene, the warrants say.
Later that night, Jones and Tolliver were arrested in New Orleans during another incident, the warrants say.
Police discovered some of the victim’s property inside the car in which Jones and Tolliver were arrested, the warrants say.
Lionel Caire, 20, who was riding with Jones and Tolliver that night, escaped but was arrested by New Orleans police at a later date, the warrants say.
Caire, Jones and Tolliver are also accused in a home invasion in Ascension Parish hours before the Newcastle Avenue armed robbery, the warrants say.
