- BATON ROUGE PRESS CLUB: Noon, De La Ronde Hall, 320 Third St. in downtown Baton Rouge. Loren Scott, economist and president of Loren C. Scott & Associates, will discuss a new economic impact study on the Louisiana chemical industry. Lunch, which is served at 11:30 a.m., is $12 for members and $15 for nonmembers. The public is invited, but only members of the Press Club and the news media are allowed to ask questions during the question-and-answer portion of the program.
- DIVERSITY IN MEDIA FORUM: 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., Magnolia Performing Arts Theater, Baton Rouge Community College, 201 Community College Drive. Bryan Monroe, editor of CNNPolitics.com, will be the keynote speaker. Other panelists at the forum include: Fred Kalmbach, managing editor of The Advocate; Vicki Zimmerman, Region 1 news director for Raycom Media; Chuck Bark, news director at WBRZ; and Josh Grimm, associate professor in mass communication at LSU. Maxine Crump, executive director of Dialogue on Race Louisiana, will be the moderator. The event is free and open to the public. Monroe also will speak at Southern University at 10 a.m. Monday and at LSU at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Baton Rouge Community College, LSU’s Manship School of Mass Communication and the Baton Rouge Area Association of Black Journalists are partnering to present these events.
