Zachary man booked in attack on woman

Police arrested a Zachary man accused of beating a woman with a gun and his fists during a domestic dispute last month, Police Chief Mike Knaps said Wednesday.

Livingston Parish sheriff’s deputies arrested Charles Clayton Williams Jr., 36, 15235 Jackson Road, Zachary, on a Baker warrant Tuesday night, Knaps said.

Williams was booked at East Baton Rouge Parish Prison with attempted second-degree murder, aggravated battery, domestic abuse battery and illegal use of a weapon, the police chief said.

Knaps said officers were dispatched to a Groom Road convenience store on Feb. 25, where they found a woman with visible signs of injuries who said her ex-boyfriend had beaten her.

Police said the woman told them Williams came to her nearby apartment and wanted to talk about their past relationship but became upset and pulled a gun. The woman said Williams struck her with the gun as she tried to flee and during a struggle, the gun fired a shot inside the apartment.

The woman eventually fled after begging for her life, Knaps said.

To Woody...pretty soon buying a gun won't be the problem, buying the ammo for it will be your main concern. Recently I bought a new hand gun locally and had to drive to Brusly to buy ammo for it. People are panicking and buying up all the ammo they can. Some stores will only sell you one box of ammo a week because they cannot get it from the suppliers. The Prez has done more to sell guns than stop gun sales. Go figure.

she had better hurry up, boiled crabs, while owning a gun is still legal.

If I were the woman I would legally buy and get trained to use a hand gun. I'd have it loaded and ready for the next time he wants to take out his frustrations. It's obvious he is suffering from that "small man" syndrone.
