Mar 3, 2013 23:23 Baton Rouge firefighter’s funeral services set for March 9 Baton Rouge firefighter’s funeral services set for March 9 Advocate staff report| March 03, 2013 Comments Funeral services for Baton Rouge firefighter Jacob Lewis are scheduled for noon Saturday, March 9, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Denham Springs, according to a Livingston Parish Fire Protection District 4 Facebook announcement issued Saturday afternoon. Lewis will be laid to rest at Evergreen Memorial Park following the funeral, the post says. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., with a rosary service at 10 a.m., the post says. Baton Rouge Fire Department spokesman Robert Combs confirmed the funeral service information Saturday night. The announcement came more than a week after personnel with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office and the St. Martin Parish Coroner’s Office recovered Lewis’ body from the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway, near Belle River in St. Martin Parish 22 days after he was last seen. Lewis, 28, of Walker, who had gone with his wife Jan. 30 to scout areas to set crawfish traps, was reported missing shortly after returning to the boat launch, authorities have said. Lewis backed the couple’s truck down the boat ramp to attach the boat to the trailer, authorities have said, but after awhile, his wife, Jennifer Branch Lewis, noticed the boat adrift, and saw Lewis trying to swim while he yelled at her to call 911 for assistance. A Settoon Dock Services employee spotted a body floating in the waterway on Feb. 21 and called the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office. Lewis’ body, found about 2 miles from the boat launch where he disappeared, was identified based on the driver’s license found on his body and the description of his clothing given by his wife to authorities.
