Kinchen| Florida Parishes bureau Feb. 27, 2013 Comments Jarred Tyquan Anderson DoteySPRINGFIELD — A burglary and battery suspect who led Livingston Parish sheriff’s deputies on an all-day chase through the wooded areas around Springfield was caught Monday evening. Jarred Tyquan Anderson Dotey, 19, was captured around 5 p.m. in a wooded area near Springfield, Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Lori Steele said. Warrants were issued Monday for Dotey on one count each of simple burglary, simple battery and resisting an officer, Steele said. However, she did not provide any details on why the warrants were issued or what caused the chase to start. The Sheriff’s Office searched the area on the ground and from the air via helicopter after Dotey was spotted near Springfield Elementary and High schools Monday morning, Steele said. Dotey’s presence near the schools prompted a lockdown of both campuses along with the middle school, Livingston Parish Superintendent John Watson said. The Sheriff’s Office secured the area and with help from the Springfield Police Department provided additional security around the schools, Watson said. Classes continued under a partial lockdown until the students were dismissed at the usual time, he said. A partial lockdown means students are allowed to change classes, but are kept indoors unless it becomes necessary to change buildings, for example to get to the cafeteria, Watson said. Access to campus was also heavily restricted. Parents were allowed to pick up their children from school, beginning with the elementary school around late morning and at the middle and high schools around midday. Dismissal went smoothly at each campus Monday afternoon, Steele said. Sheriff’s deputies, along with officers from Springfield, Albany, Killian and Louisiana State Police, were able to contain Dotey to a wooded area and captured him by 5 p.m., Steele said.
