Feb 18, 2013 00:24 Volunteers sought to clean up crab traps in two parishes Volunteers sought to clean up crab traps in two parishes The Associated Press Feb. 18, 2013 Comments The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is seeking volunteers to help with its crab trap clean-up project in Plaquemines and St. Bernard parishes. The department partnered with Louisiana Sea Grant, the Coastal Conservation Association of Louisiana and other volunteer groups to remove and dispose of more than 22,000 abandoned crab traps. The Plaquemines Parish clean-up began Saturday and will end Feb. 25 at 6 a.m. The next volunteer day is Feb. 23 at Beshel’s Marina in East Pointe-a-La Hache. The St. Bernard Parish clean-up will be March 9 and end March 18. A volunteer clean-up day will be March 9 at Breton Sound Marina in Hopedale.
