Police seek pickupin pedestrian fatality

State Police are looking for a driver who hit a man on Burbank Drive early Monday and drove off.

Tyrone Davis, 19, of Baker, was walking on Burbank Drive at Staring Lane at 3 a.m. when a vehicle traveling west on Burbank hit and killed him, Trooper First Class Jared Sandifer said in a news release.

The driver continued west on Burbank Drive, Sandifer said.

Troopers believe the vehicle may be an early to mid-1980s model Ford F-150 pickup truck and it may have been repainted an aqua blue or teal color, Sandifer said.

The truck might have damage to the passenger side headlight and grille area, Sandifer said.

Authorities arrest 1 on suspicion of DWI

Authorities arrested at least one person suspected of driving while intoxicated in East Baton Rouge Parish and booked him into Parish Prison between 2:30 p.m. Sunday and 2:30 p.m. Monday, booking records show.

Kenney Profit, 49, 23838 Plank Road, Zachary, was booked on one count each of first-offense DWI, failure to maintain control of a vehicle and fugitive from justice.

Campus police book suspect in rape

Southern University police Monday arrested an 18-year-old male studentaccused of raping a female student on Sept. 20 in her campus dormitory room, according to an arrest warrant.

Jeremy Williams, 13144 Arlington Ave., Baton Rouge, was booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on one count of forcible rape.

The student arrived in the common area of her dormitory suite and saw Williams, who said

he was looking for someone else, the warrant says. The female student allowed Williams to wait in her room, where he raped her, the warrant says.
