I-10 lanes opening ceremony postponed

The opening of new lanes on Interstate 10 between the I-10/12 split and Siegen Lane has been postponed, officials said Monday.

Weather issues forced the schedule change, said Jodi Conachen, director of communications for the state Department of Transportation and Development.

Work on the $86.2 million project began in January 2009.

This project is still being poorly managed... Why schedule the opening of the new lanes when work is still left to be done and the extended forecast calls for four straight days of rain??? Genius...

All of you do realize that the reason the ribbon-cutting ceremony was postponed is because the opening of the new lanes themselves had to be postponed as well, right? Construction is not finished yet. Construction crews need a few days in a row of dry weather in order to finish striping the lanes before they can be opened to traffic, and the recent rainy weather has delayed this. They are not keeping the public from accessing ready-to-use traffic lanes just because a few government officials don't want to get wet - that's ridiculous. The traffic lanes are not ready to use yet, and that's why they're not open yet. So everyone just calm down.

A sad commentary on our so-called democracy. Continued proof the public does not matter. Maybe we never did except when the politicos count our taxes.

According to the preamble to the US Constitution, We the People govern. We have not accepted the preamble's gift of governance by the governed. If we had, there would be no grandstanding by politicians--no denial of our roads for their self promotion. When are we going to let go of the idea of governance by the majority's representative instead of administrators who actually uphold the US Constitution and State Constitution. When will the people accept the seven secular goals stated in the preamble and bring We the People into existence for the first time in history?

Ridiculous....Since when did we do ribbon cuttings for road expansions? Nothing more than a pseudo-event for the absentee Governor to pretend he cares about the people of Louisiana. Recent polls show we aren't buying it anymore.

That is par for the course. The politicians inconvenience the public by not allowing us to use the finished highway lanes we paid for until they can show off in front of the cameras. Guess we will have to wait until the King returns to the state, also.

I guess Lil Booby didn't want to get out in the rain.
