Donors are asked to bag the beads and drop them in any Salvation Army donation box found at locations across Baton Rouge or take them to Salvation Army headquarters, 7361 Airline Highway. Majs. Stephen and Connie Long said volunteers at The Salvation Army will sterilize and bundle the throws just like the stores selling new ones. Residents can pick up supplies for next year’s Carnival parades starting in late winter, buying them for a discount and helping The Salvation Army with its services. The Salvation Army helps storm-crippled communities with water, food and supplies. It has special programs for the elderly and single mothers. The agency sponsors after-school programs for inner-city children, including a School for Performing Arts. It also has extensive addiction rehabilitation programs.
