49ers first in the Super Bowl, rally to beat Falcons 28-24 in NFC championship game

The San Francisco 49ers are back in the Super Bowl.

Behind a clutch defense and a powerful running game, San Francisco rallied from a 17-0 deficit to beat the Atlanta Falcons 28-24 in the NFC Championship Game in the Georgia Dome.

San Francisco ralled from a 17-0 second-deficit, chipping away at the lead with clutch passing and running.

Trailing 24-21, the 49ers' running back Frank Gore scored on a 10-yard touchdown run with to take a 28-24 lead with 8:23 remaining in the game.

The Falcons had a chance to win the game, when they drove down to the 49ers 10-yard line. But Atlanta quarterback Matt Ryan threw an incompletion on a fourth-and-four play with 1:09 remaining in the game.
