One teen brain dead after early morning shootings

Police are searching for a Baton Rouge man in the shootings of two teenagers early Thursday morning that left one brain dead, a police spokesman said.

Cpl. L’Jean McKneely Jr. said warrants for first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder have been issued for Deaundre Williams, 20, 6545 Nottingham St., in the shootings of a 15-year-old boy and a 19-year-old man. Police have not released the identities of the victims.

McKneely said police could issue the murder warrant even though the 15-year-old boy, who was shot in the head, has not yet died.

“When the doctors pronounced him as (brain) dead, then legally you can charge them as if that person is in the ground,” McKneely said.

The 19-year-old was shot in the back and is expected to recover, McKneely said.

The shootings occurred just before 2 a.m. near a house in the 1800 block of 71st Street, McKneely said.

Apparently, the three were arguing over an incident that occurred about two weeks ago, he said.

Williams is also wanted in the illegal use of a firearm, McKneely said.

Anyone with information about the shootings is asked to contact the Violent Crimes Unit at (225) 389-4869 or Crime Stoppers at (225) 344-7867.

"Williams is also wanted in the illegal use of a firearm..." based on what the libs have been saying, guns are made for killing. so williams used the gun for it's primary use. how can he be charged with illegal use?

What about the 15 year old parents. Its 2am and your child is on the streets. They should be charged with something also.

Kip said, homicides are down 60% because they implemented the BRAVE program. Yep, it's working!
