State says rain delayed I-10 project

The completion of the widening of Interstate 10 between the I-10/12 split and Siegen Lane has been pushed back from this month to February, a spokeswoman for the state Department of Transportation and Development said Thursday.

“With 22 inches of rain over the last six weeks and a 158 percent increase above the average rainfall for January, we’re now looking at February,” said Jodi Conachen, director of communications for DOTD.

State officials said on Dec. 18 that they thought the work, which began four years ago, would be finished by the end of January, but noted that weather issues could change that.
