Services are available for families with children ages 3 to 21 who are in the special education program or are in the gifted and talented program in Livingston Parish public schools. For information, call Kimberly Manuel at (225) 667-1098. ‘The Big Picture’ The theme for the Livingston Economic Development Council’s annual meeting Jan. 24 will be “The Big Picture.” The council will look at LEDC’s 30 years of operation as well as what lies ahead in 2013. The past year was marked by several major new developments, including the opening of Our Lady of the Lake Livingston and two major steel fabrication facilities. The parish attracted more than $10 million in new capital investment and fielded additional inquiries worth more than $1 billion, LEDC officials said. The meeting will begin at 11:30 a.m. at Forrest Grove Plantation, 8743 Stephenson Drive, in Denham Springs. The cost is $20 per person. Reservations are required no later than Jan. 21. Memorial service planned The Livingston Parish Retired Teachers will hold its annual Memorial Service at 10 a.m. Monday at the School Board office in Livingston. Retired teachers who passed away during 2012 will be remembered, organizers said. Relatives of those members are invited to attend. All retired teachers are invited. A light lunch will be served. Small business consulting Residents who own a small business or are interested in starting one may take advantage of free business consulting from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Watson Library. Participants will receive a private, one-hour consulting session, including business plans, advertising plans, inventory control, financial projections, cost analysis and much more, organizers said. Basic Hatha yoga Elan Adams, owner and instructor of Spiral Branch Yoga, will teach a basic Hatha yoga class at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Livingston Branch Library. The course will provide students with an introduction to common yoga postures and practices. Modifications will be offered for students of all levels and physical abilities.
