Baton Rouge man dies in single-vehicle accident

DENHAM SPRINGS — A 48-year-old Baton Rouge man died in a single-vehicle accident on Interstate 12 early Wednesday, police reported.

The man’s eastbound vehicle struck a traffic sign before hitting a tree, said Capt. Steve Kistler, of the Denham Springs Police Department.

The driver was alone in the vehicle when the wreck occurred about 12:30 a.m., police reported.

The victim’s identity was withheld pending notification of his next of kin, Kistler said.

The man was not wearing a seat belt and alcohol is not believed to be a contributing factor to the accident, Kistler said.
