The Women Outreaching Women is selling fireworks to raise funds to provide emergency housing and program services to women and their children fleeing domestic violence.

WOW Discount Fireworks will be open New Year’s Eve beginning at 9 a.m. and Jan. 1 beginning at 10 a.m. at 26852 4-H Club Road in Denham Springs.

Christmas in Walker

Sidney Hutchinson Park in Walker has been transformed into the Walker Wonderland with thousands of lights and animated displays and nightly Movies Under the Stars featuring family-friendly movies on the big screen, city officials said.

The park is open for tours and movies from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. through Monday. Admission is free.

Chamber meeting

The Livingston Parish Chamber of Commerce Installation Banquet and Annual Meeting will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Forrest Grove Plantation in Denham Springs.

The 2013 board of directors and officers will officially be sworn in at the meeting.

The new board members are Jeff Simon, of Sam’s Club; John Blount, Blount General Contractors; Johnathan Whitman, Morgan Stanley Wealth Management; Wayne Dugas, of Lard Oil Co.; Adrienne Dunn, Mary Kay Cosmetics; and Anthony Genovese, of Progressive Waste.

Parish President Layton Ricks will address the attendees in a State of the Parish address. State Supreme Court-elect Judge Jeff Hughes will offer the oaths of office to each officer and director for 2013.

Chef’s Showcase, auction

A Door of Hope will hold a “Hope” charity social, Chef’s Showcase and Silent Auction from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. March 2 at Greystone Country Club in Denham Springs. Tickets can be purchased starting Wednesday for $45.

The mission of Door of Hope is to establish a residential program for girls and women ages 17 to 35 who have been victims of physical and sexual abuse as well as those facing life controlling issues such as eating disorders, addiction, depression and self-harm, organizers said.
