Two Park Forest students arrested
East Baton Rouge parish authorities arrested two Park Forest Middle School students Tuesday after finding a loaded gun in a trash can on the campus, an East Baton Rouge Parish sheriff’s spokeswoman said.
An anonymous student reported seeing another student with a gun at the school’s campus on 3760 Aletha Drive, Casey Rayborn Hicks said in a news release.
Administrators discovered a loaded .40-caliber handgun inside a bookbag in an outdoor trash can, Hicks said. The bookbag belong to one of the two students arrested, Hicks said.
The gun is believed to have been stolen from Tangipahoa Parish in a 2011 residential burglary, Hicks said.
A 13-year-old and 14-year-old were booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Juvenile Detention Center on counts of illegal carrying of a weapon on school property and possession of a stolen firearm, Hicks said.
The names of the teenagers were not released.
Government Street store held up
Baton Rouge police are searching for a man who held up the Dollar General store at 5662 Government St. late Sunday, a police spokesman said.
A man armed with a handgun walked into the business at 10 p.m. demanding money, Cpl. Tommy Stubbs said in a news release.
The armed robber left in a silver Oldsmobile Alero with a temporary license tag, Stubbs said.
The robber is described as a black man, slim and between 6 feet and 6 feet 3 inches tall, clad in all black clothing, Stubbs said.

5 booked with DWI in EBR Parish Prison
Authorities arrested at least five people suspected of driving while intoxicated in East Baton Rouge Parish and booked them into Parish Prison between 2:30 p.m. Sunday and 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, booking records show.
Those booked and the counts against them:
- Saul Abarca, 21, 6034 Shakespeare Drive, Baton Rouge, first-offense DWI, reckless operation of a vehicle and improper lane usage.
- Grady Bough, 38, 16645 Strain Road, Baton Rouge, first-offense DWI, failure to signal and improper turn.
- Joshua Chauvin, 27, 9989 Burbank Drive, Baton Rouge, first-offense DWI and improper lane usage.
- Laura Kramm, 45, 19031 Hickory Ridge Court, Baton Rouge, first-offense DWI, driver’s license expired, driving over the median and failure to maintain control.
- Daniel Robichaux, 45, 1551 W. Chimes St., Baton Rouge, first-offense DWI and improper lane usage.
Florida Boulevard parts store robbed
Baton Rouge police are looking for a man in the robbery of an auto parts store Sunday on Florida Boulevard, a police spokesman said.
The man walked into Auto Zone at 4547 Florida Blvd., around 5:30 p.m. and approached the sales clerk with a threatening note, demanding money, Cpl. Tommy Stubbs said in a news release.
Police are not sure if the man was armed, Stubbs said.
The man grabbed the money and ran away in an unknown direction, Stubbs said.
The robber is described as a 35- to 45-year-old black man, about 6 feet tall with a medium build. He was wearing a gray hat, blue jeans and a black No. 9 New Orleans Saints jersey.
