Teen wounded in robbery booked

A 17-year-old, who was shot and hospitalized when he allegedly tried to rob a stranded motorist at gunpoint, was arrested Saturday by Baton Rouge Police, booking records show.

Damien Lamar Mullens, 2849 Ontario Drive, No. 11, was arrested on a count of attempted armed robbery and is being held in Parish Prison on $50,000 bail, booking records show.

The following information was taken from the warrant for his arrest and information provided earlier by police:

Mullens and a 16-year-old co-defendant found the motorist Dec. 11 at about 9:15 p.m. in the 2400 block of North Acadian Thruway West. Mullens pulled a handgun and demanded the victim’s money.

When the victim, a 40-year-old man, tried to disarm Mullens, they struggled over Mullens’ handgun. The two tumbled into the man’s car where the victim grabbed his own gun and fired a shot, striking Mullens in the side.

Mullens and the 16-year-old ran to a friend’s home in the 3200 block of Duke Street, where a resident called police.

Mullens and the juvenile first told officers that they were victims of a drive-by shooting. However, the juvenile later admitted his role in the attempted robbery, and named Mullens as his accomplice.

Police book man
on molestation

A teenager accused of molesting a 5-year-old boy was arrested Friday by the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office, booking records show.

Demetria Walker, 17, was supposed to be minding the child Saturday while a woman was away from the house, an arrest affidavit says.

When the woman returned at 11 a.m. Friday, she found Walker getting dressed. When asked where the child was, Walker said he didn’t know and bolted from the home, the affidavit says.

The woman found the 5-year-old in a bedroom closet getting dressed, the affidavit says.

During an investigation, sheriff’s deputies learned that Walker molested the child while the two were alone.

Walker was in Parish Prison Sunday on counts of sexual battery and molestation of a juvenile, booking records show. His bond is set at $50,000.

Matt Harding was arrested for vehicular homicide earlier this year. That means he was under the influence while driving and someone died as a result of the crash. 4 months ago this guy kills someone and he's back out drinking and driving again???? Life without parole. To find the article, search for his name + vehicular homicide. It will come up. I won't link it because its the advocate's competitor. What ashame

BRash, that link doesn't go anywhere. And I'm not saying there weren't actual multiple offenders arrested, but it is only convictions that matter. So says the law.

Well you guys don't know anything about the law so let me explain AGAIN! Being arrested on a 4th offense means that he he has been pulled over for DUI 4 times. That is all. He might have been found not-guilty on all of the previous arrests. I know guys that work night shifts that have been booked because they are tired. When they go to court there is no evidence that they were intoxicated. I think the reporting needs to be different. If this guy had been found guilty of DUI 3 times at his age he wouldn't be on the road. Educate yourselves.

ordinarily i would also comment on the 4th offence dwi but i have found it doesnt do any good, nothing has changed regarding this in the last ten years other than a family of eight was wiped out by someone just like mr harding. i pleased to read that a citizen who was armed shot one of this lowlife wastes of flesh i sincerly hope he doesnt make it so we dont have to pay to feed and clothe him for 2 years then hell be back on the street robbing again or probably worse killing so innocent hard working person because hes too lazy to work for a living!

Matthew Harding, 31 4th DWI. well it would be nice if the advocate printed what judges and what punishment was handed out for each of the prior offenses. that he is out of jail from his 3rd DWI would be a good start. what are the judges going to do, wait till he kills someone (other than himself) and then talk about every chance to redeem himself? the judge should be held responsible for any DWI driver's actions after the 2nd DWI conviction.

Parents, especially women, DO NOT LEAVE YOUR KIDS ALONE WITH A MAN, other than the father. No, not all men are abusers or child molesters (most are not), but most of the people who commit those crimes are men. It's safer to leave your kids with a responsible woman.
