A woman arrested by New York authorities Dec. 3 in the 1984 slaying of Crowley businessman Gary Kergan will be extradited to Louisiana next week, East Baton Rouge Parish District Attorney Hillar Moore III said Tuesday. Leila Mulla, 47, of Astoria, N.Y., will be transported to Baton Rouge on Dec. 19 after being arrested by New York police and the Queens, N.Y., District Attorney’s Office, Moore said. Ronald Dalton Dunnagan, 64, of Bossier City, was arrested by the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office and booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on Dec. 4 on counts of first-degree murder, simple robbery and criminal conspiracy in the case. The two are accused of conspiring to rob and kill Kergan sometime around Nov. 29, 1984, when Kergan was last seen alive at Mulla’s north Baton Rouge home, police have said. The State Police Crime Lab recently retested blood found in Kergan’s car, which was discovered abandoned near Metairie. The test confirmed the blood was Kergan’s, police have said. Suspect arrestedin shooting attack A man accused of shooting five to six times at another man on Elvin Drive in November has been arrested, according to an affidavit warrant. Lorenzo Collins, 19, 12400 Jefferson Highway, was booked by U.S. marshals with attempted second-degree murder, illegal use of a weapon and aggravated assault with a firearm, East Baton Rouge Parish Prison records show. The victim and his brother were dropping off his brother in the 8700 block of Elvin Drive at 1:45 a.m. Nov. 17 when he was approached by someone to fight, the warrant says. The victim told the person that he didn’t want to fight, the warrant says. At that moment, Collins approached the victim from Jasper Avenue, aimed a handgun at the victim and fired five to six shots, the warrant says. The victim ran away and was not hit, the warrant says. BR man bookedon count of rape Baton Rouge police have arrested a man accused of raping a 5-year-old boy Sunday, according to an affidavit warrant. Randon Williams, 20, 3325 Shelley St., was booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on a count of aggravated rape, parish prison records show. The victim told his mother what was happening, which led to Williams’ arrest, the warrant says. The vicitm’s age was unavailable.
