Cox collecting toys
for giving campaign

Cox Communications is collecting donated toys to benefit Boys & Girls Clubs as part of the company’s national “Days of Giving” campaign.

Customers may drop off a new, unwrapped toy at any local Cox retail store now through Dec. 14. Toys will be donated to local Boys & Girls Clubs in Abbeville, Lafayette and New Iberia. Donors will receive a plush, holiday Digeez doll.

Cox retail stores in Acadiana are located at: 1906 Veterans Memorial Dr., Abbeville; 2010 N. Parkerson Ave., Crowley; 1906 Eraste Landry Rd., Lafayette; 1017 Progress St., New Iberia; and 5512 Main Hwy., St. Martinville.

Community college
to light holiday tree
South Louisiana Community College will hold its first holiday tree-lighting ceremony at 6 p.m. Thursday at its Lafayette campus.

The campus’ tree is between its Devalcourt and Ardoin buildings.

Students, faculty, staff and the community are invited to visit with Santa and bring cameras for photos. Members of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette Gospel Choir will perform.

The Extra Mile sale
to benefit area center

The nonprofit agency The Extra Mile will hold its annual garage sale from noon to 4:30 p.m. Friday and from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at its offices at 525 S. Buchanan St.

Proceeds will benefit the Lafayette Area Activity Resource Center, a program that provides support services and activities for those living with mental illness.
