The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals of Livingston will host a pet adoption event from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 8 at Walgreens, 101 Florida Ave. S.E., Denham Springs.

The SPCA will have several puppies, kittens, adult dogs and cats available for adoption. This event will be on the Denham Springs Christmas parade route. Adoption fees vary and include mandatory spay/neuter and age appropriate vaccinations.

Dinner with ‘Elvis’

“Dinner with the King,” a fundraiser featuring Jason Baglio, will be held Friday at the Carter Plantation Magnolia Ballroom, 23475 Carter Trace, Springfield.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m., dinner will be served at 7:30 p.m. and the show will begin at 8:30 p.m.

Tickets are $60 and include a three-course gourmet dinner with a glass of wine and seats for the show. Tickets can be purchased in the Pro Shop at Carter Plantation and Patenotte’s Pool & Spa, 207 Market St., Hammond.

Christmas Crusade

Livingston Parish Sheriff Jason Ard will host the annual Christmas Crusade to provide toys for needy children.

Applications will be accepted from 8:30 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, Dec. 3-7 at the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office Training Center, 29225 Woodside Drive, Walker.

Applicants must show proof of residency, income and one of the following: a birth certificate, school records, WIC vouchers with the child’s date of birth or medical records for the child.

Toys will be delivered Dec. 14 beginning at 8 a.m. Applicants must be home, organizers said.

Donations will be accepted from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and from Dec. 6 to Dec. 8 at Wal-Mart stores in Walker, Denham Springs and Watson along with the Bass Pro Shop and Sam’s Club.

Food festival

The Fourth annual St. Joseph Catholic Church Winter Wonderland Food Festival: A Taste of French Settlement will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Plates are $7 and will include sauce patate, brisket and pork loin, barbecue ribs, seafood fettuccine, jambalaya, hot wings and a large selection of side dishes.

The event will feature more than 40 craft booths, a car show and free activities for children. Pictures with Santa will cost $5. The church is located at 15710 La. 16, French Settlement.
