Man dies after motorcycle wreck

A 29-year-old Lafayette man died Thursday from injuries he received in a Wednesday night motorcycle crash, according to State Police.

Ronald Bellard was driving his 2006 Honda motorcycle north of La. 93 at 11:19 p.m. Wednesday when he struck a curb and was thrown from the motorcycle, State Police said in a news release.

Bellard died early Thursday morning from his injuries, State Police said.

Lafayette woman dies in 2-car crash

A 22-year-old Lafayette woman died late Wednesday in a traffic crash at Kaliste Saloom Road and Rue Louis XVI, according to Lafayette police.

The woman’s Buick Lacrosse was turning left on to Kaliste Saloom Road at 11:42 p.m. Wednesday when it collided with a Ford Mustang driven by Fred Dutton Jr., 23, of Lafayette, police said in a news release.

Dutton was booked on counts of DWI and failure to obey a traffic signal, police said.

The name of the woman who died in the crash has not been released pending notification of next of kin, police said.
