BR man arrested
in armed robberies

East Baton Rouge Parish sheriff’s deputies arrested a 19-year-old man Tuesday suspected in several armed robberies in the Baton Rouge area, a sheriff’s spokeswoman said.

Daniel Green, 19, of 1312 Jasper Ave., was booked into Parish Prison on two counts of armed robbery and one count of aggravated battery, Casey Rayborn Hicks said in a news release. Additional counts might be added by city police, authorities said.

Green was pulled over for a traffic stop Monday evening in the 1200 block of Gardere Lane and deputies noticed a black BB handgun in his car that was similar to a gun used in armed robberies Oct. 16 and Nov. 17 at a Cracker Barrel on Burbank Drive, Hicks said.

Green was cited for several traffic violations and released, Hicks said.

Detectives went to Green’s home Tuesday and he confessed to the two Cracker Barrel robberies, and to the armed robberies of two convenience stores being investigated by Baton Rouge police, Hicks said.

Green was booked on aggravated battery after hitting a clerk in the head with the gun during the Oct. 16 armed robbery, Hicks said.

Two men wounded in fight with robber

Police are investigating an incident early Tuesday in which an armed man held up four people at gunpoint on East Boyd Drive, a police spokesman said.

Four people were walking in the 700 block of East Boyd shortly after 1 a.m. when a man armed with a handgun approached them and demanded their property, Cpl. Tommy Stubbs said.

Two men in the group of four attacked the armed man and fought over control of the gun, Stubbs said.

The gun went off, striking the two men in their right hands, Stubbs said.

Police are still looking for the armed man, Stubbs said.

He is described as a dark-skinned black man in his early to mid-20s, about 5 feet 8 inches tall with a slim build, Stubbs said. He was wearing dark clothing.

Agreed, although I don't think it really matters who won the election. Neither party is prepared to do anything radical enough to address the situation we are in. Like Pattydiva said, it will probably take a civil war.

Here, here, Widdy. Well said. These are the same people who feel "entitled" to all that they get from the government who voted Obama into office again. God forbid we start making them accountable. This is what Obama wants, total dependence on the government so he has total control of the people. Well, what he doesn't realize is that the rest of us will not follow like zombies for the freebies. We want our jobs, our freedoms, our rights as americans. We are proud to work for a living and make our families prosperous. The one thing we won't tolerate indefinatly it our money being used to support his crew of Stepford citizens. I worry about a civil war in this country, and soon. When we have had enough, we will cry out in protest. That is when the $#^& will hit the fan.

The crime in BR and across the nation will only continue to get worse. This group of people in the inner cites of BR continues to plague our community. The culture of unlimited breeding and fatherless homes is the norm and perfectly acceptable in their communitys. The women don't care enough to stop or use some sort of birth control and the men could care less about being fathers. Heck the more babies, the more welfare and support the government gives anyway......... so why not? The big problems is these people spread to the good areas of town and then the community goes straight down...........just look around if you don't believe that. The good, hard working people leave, the property value dives and no one wants to live there. No business, people handing on the streets and no one looking for gainful employment. The Gardere area when I was at LSU (early 80's) was a great area, now the thugs, drug dealers, non-workers and free breeders have moved in and taken over. This continues to happen everywhere and with the liberal minded democrats who think its OK to take my money for these people only compounds the problem. I say screw them, let them be hungry and live without any basic needs for a while. This would give them exactly what they deserve and have earned. I don't feel sorry for any of them. Then maybe they might decide to get an education, work hard and become productive members of society! You know people who don't own anything never respect anything. They dont respect people or property. Some of these areas are filthy, they throw trash everywhere and live like animals! Why should they respect property or this country, they have never worked for or had to work for anything. Someone else will be left to clean up their mess!
