A California man, 58, was indicted Thursday in the rape of a woman 25 years ago in Baton Rouge.
An East Baton Rouge Parish grand jury charged Alfred James Carter, 1220 S. Olive St., Los Angeles, with aggravated rape in the June 25, 1987, incident.
DNA evidence was used to match Carter to the crime, a June arrest warrant alleged.
Carter allegedly raped the woman at a Sharp Lane apartment and threatened to kill her and her then 2-year-old child, the warrant stated.
An aggravated rape conviction would carry an automatic sentence of life in prison in Louisiana.
The case has been assigned to state District Judge Lou Daniel.
